Emotional eating worksheet

On this page, we will provide you with an emotional eating worksheet that will help you learn more about and cope with emotional eating.

What is an emotional eating worksheet about?

Emotional eating is a maladaptive (harmful behaviour) that is characterised by consuming food several times a week with the purpose of soothing negative feelings such as sadness, anxiety, low self-esteem and confidence, hence the name emotional eating. For people engaging in emotional eating to cope with their feelings, negative feelings create a sense of emptiness that is, therefore, filled by a sense of stomach fullness. While emotional eating provides short-term relief, it only leads to harmful effects in the long term, such as weight-related issues, lifestyle diseases such as diabetes and unresolved psychological problems. This worksheet will help you learn more about emotional eating, its effects and ways to cope with it.

How will the Emotional Eating worksheet help?

This emotional eating worksheet will provide you with a CBT thought challenging exercise. This exercise has been provided to you because emotional eating is fuelled by negative and irrational thoughts that trigger (activate) negative emotions which lead you to cope negatively by using food.
